“Well, based on his history, the doctor always checks for everything,” said Rutherford. “We’re very cautious when it comes to health. I know that talking to him this morning, the doctor, he’s cleared to practice .”

- K Wilson: Mike Fisher has been put on the IR with a lower-body injury. He’ll miss at least the next four games. He’ll be reevaluated next week.

- Stephen Whyno: Milan Michalek is out indefinitely with a fractured right index finger. He was hit with a shot last against the Flyers on Tuesday.
On the Tampa Bay Lightning …
- Joe Smith: Cedric Paquette was on the ice for an optional skate. Tuesday he said he’s “not quite ready” to return to the lineup, but is hopeful for the weekend.
- Joe Smith: Tyler Johnson said his injuries are getting better and he hasn’t ruled out returning to the lineup this weekend.

- Jonas Siegel: Joffrey Lupul will miss at least three games with a lower-body injury. Monday’s game was the first.
On the Calgary Flames …
- Aaron Vickers: Coach Bob Hartley confirms that Karri Ramo was given a maintenance day yesterday. Won’t name a starter for Friday just yet.
On the Washington Capitals …
- Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post: Defenseman Brooks Oprik won’t travel with the team to Montreal and Winnipeg. He will continue to rehab his “not serious” lower-body injury.
“I don’t know what you mean by serious,” Orpik said. “I mean, it’s not going to kill me. … It’s probably not serious, just frustrating because you don’t like missing any games, let alone however many I’ve missed now.”
Orpik has been out since November 10th.
