Michael Smith: Coach Bill Peters on defenseman Brett Pesce didn’t play last night due to an upper-body injury that he suffered at practice yesterday: “He’s going to get looked at by our people and have an MRI or something done tomorrow. We’ll know more once we get the results of that.”

John Shannon: Thomas Dundon officially became the majority owner of the Hurricanes. Peter Karmanos retains minority ownership.

Pierre LeBrun: Dundon’s share is at 61 percent after he bought out some additional limited partners. He was initially buying 52 percent.

Blue Jackets PR: The Blue Jackets have recalled goaltender Joonas Korpisalo from the AHL and assigned goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks.

Arthur Staple: The Islanders recalled forward Anthony Beauvillier and Michael Dal Colle on an emergency basis. Defenseman Sebastian Aho was a non-emergency recall.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith: Coach Jon Cooper didn’t have an update on defenseman Victor Hedman after the game. Hedman will have tests done today. It is a “concern” for them because of the unknown.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Michael Augello: The Maple Leafs assign defenseman Travis Dermott and forward Frederik Gauthier to the AHL. Both players will likely be recalled after the Leafs five-day break.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Vancouver Canucks: Forward Brandon Sutter is hoping to return to the lineup on Sunday. Sutter never had a setback during the time he was out. The timetable for him was six to eight weeks and he was on track for that.

On the Washington Capitals …

Isabelle Khurshudyan: Forward Andre Burakovsky missed last night’s game with an illness.

Ken Wiebe: Coach Paul Maurice said that Adam Lowry and Brandon Tanev won’t be in the lineup tonight against the Blackhawks.
