Andrew Ladd was a fan favorite in Winnipeg and it wasn’t easy for them to trade Ladd at the deadline to the Blackhawks. But, after reportedly rejecting a six-year, $36 million contract offer, it made it a little easier for them.
Ladd struggled early in the season and ended up having his lowest point total since the 2009-10 season. Ladd managed his first 25 goals season since 2011-12, but he only recorded 21 assists. Ladd’s numbers improved in Chicago, where he scored eight goals in 19 games.
Another player who could use Ryan Kesler’s contract as a comparable, but he’s another player that will likely settle for less. Would be a surprise if any team offered a six-year, $6 million per season deal. He’s still an effective player, but he’ll be 31 in December and appears to be trending down.
