Where do things sit with Connor Hellebuyck?

Ivanka Osmak: “Bringing in Frank Seravalli to discuss, well, some of the moves that were made in the draft, and some that didn’t happen. Connor Hellebuyck, for one. You know, there are so many trades in the first round of the draft, his name, of course, rumored to be on the move, but where does that stand right now?”

Seravalli: “Well, Ivanka, the clearly the Jets didn’t get anything that moved the needle for them. And to me, the most interesting part of the day was Kevin Cheveldayoff declining to answer the question twice as to whether or not Conor Hellebuyck has requested a trade.

I think either way the Jets are on the clock with the three-time Vezina Trophy winner and the Hart Trophy winner, one of the best goalies of his generation.

NHL Rumors: The Dallas Stars Are Facing a Market Reality for Jason Robertson

Why, the Carolina Hurricanes, I reported on Thursday, offered a first-round pick, and pending RFA defenseman Alexander Nikishkin. I’m sure they could put one of their goaltenders in the mix as well.

And while this wasn’t dependent on a draft pick, I think the big question for the Jets is, if they wait one year from now, if there wasn’t a firm trade request, and the Jets don’t improve, will the offer get better between now and then, for a now 34 year old goalie? that’s what the Jets have to consider.

Were the Toronto Maple Leafs close to trading Matthew Knies?

Sportsnet: Frank Seravalli, on if the Toronto Maple Leafs were close to trading forward Matthew Knies.

Ken Reid: “Were the Leafs ever close to moving Matthew Knies?”

Seravalli: “I think that they had engaged in some pretty significant and advanced discussion with the Dallas Stars as part of a swap that included Jason Robertson going to Seattle. The number seven overall pick going from Seattle to Dallas and then to Toronto as part of a larger package for Matthew Knies.

NHL Rumors: Red Wings, Wild, Canadiens, Sabres, Avs, Oilers, and Ducks

But once that didn’t materialize, I don’t have any evidence to this point that the Toronto Maple Leafs engaged very deeply otherwise on Matthew Knies. Nonetheless, they made it very clear from Jump Street that if they were going to consider something for a player of this magnitude with such a unique skill set at this age, that it would have to be incredibly significant in order to get them to blink, and clearly we didn’t get to that point.”
