The Atlanta Thrashers have traded defenseman Brent Sopel and forward Nigel Dawes to the Montreal Canadiens for forward Ben Maxwell and a 4th round draft pick.
Brent Sopel carries a $2,333,333 cap hit this year and will be a UFA at seasons end.
Dawes carries a $650,000 cap hit and will be a RFA after the season.
Maxwell is in the last year of his entry level deal and will be a RFA at the end of this year.
