Coaching Notes: Predators, Capitals, Islanders, Flames, Leafs, Senators and Hurricanes
- Sportsnet Ticker: Since Barry Trotz was named the Predators coach in August of 1997, there have been 179 coaching changes.
- David Pagnotta: The Panthers, Canucks, Capitals and Maple Leafs are among the teams that are seriously looking at their coaching situation.
- David Strehle: Strehle wonders if the Predators will look at Peter Laviolette to replace Barry Trotz.
- George Richards: Phil Housley was Trotz’s assistant and may have been the guy they brought in to eventually replace Trotz.
- Adam Vingan: Capitals coach Adam Oates hasn’t receive any indication about his job status. He has one year left on his deal.
- Arthur Staple: Islanders GM Garth Snow said that coach Jack Capuano “will be back next season.”
- Wes Gilbertson: Flames GM Brian Burke confirmed that coach Bob Hartley will be back next season.
- Hope Smoke: Brendan Shanahan: “The evaluation on Carlyle hasn’t begun yet. Randy is a good coach but we need to start asking questions today”
- David Pagnotta: Would be surprised with the Senators fired Paul MacLean, and somewhat surprised if the Hurricanes fired Kirk Muller.
