On the Colorado Avalanche and Matt Duchene …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Darren Dreger was on WGR 550 radio in Buffalo on Friday and was asked if it’s possible that Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Duchene could be traded to the Buffalo Sabres.
“I can’t say Buffalo isn’t an option,” said Dreger. “I think that certainly Matt Duchene is willing to consider any option that is thrown his way.”
notes that Duchene’s agent Pat Brisson likely isn’t talking with Avs GM Joe Sakic everyday, but has been persistent in his message that it may be best for both sides that a trade somewhere gets done.
“Nobody wants to go through the awkwardness and potential ugliness of training camp opening and Matt Duchene perhaps not being there. I’m not suggesting that that is going to be the case, but sooner than later either Duchene or Pat Brisson or somebody from that side is going to step up and say, ‘Alright. Enough is enough. We’ve been really patient in this. We know that you expect and want a great return for Matt Duchene because he’s still a very, very good player in the National Hockey League. But it’s not going to be a good scene for anyone if he’s forced back into that dressing room.’
On the Colorado Avalanche and Adam Foote …
Adrian Dater of BSN Denver: The Avalanche confirmed that Adam Foote has left the organization to spend more time with his family. Cal was just drafted by the Lightning and 16-year old Nolan will be playing with Kelowna of the WHL. Cal will likely also be playing in Kelowna this year.
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Dreger on WGR 550 radio said that things are strange in Colorado. Adam Foote has left the organization. Foote may have been distracted/focusing on his sons – Cal was just drafted and Nolan is going to be a high draft pick.
“But with a first-round pick being a defenseman and a high second-round pick being a defenseman, how do you allow Adam Foote to walk away from that organization.
“So there’s a lot of things that need to be corrected and perhaps straightened out in Colorado.”
