- Chris Kuc of Chicago Breaking News: According to Cristobal Huet’s agent, Stephen Barlett, they are in discussions with Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss League. The Blackhawks would loan the goalie to the team on a one-year agreement. Once it becomes official, Huet’s $5.625 million cap number would come off the books. Huet will have to clear waivers and then be assigned to the team.
- Andy Strickland via twitter: Both the Blackhawks and Huet have known for weeks that Huet would be playing in Europe. Discussions have been ongoing for several weeks with the Swiss team.
- Dmitry Chesnokov via twitter: A good point was made by ‘@felixpotvin‘ (Chemmy of Pension Plan Puppets) that “Loaning” a player to another team and taking their cap number off the books is apparently not circumventing the salary cap.
