Elias Pettersson Will Determine His Future with the Vancouver Canucks

James Nichols: Can confirm that Devils GM Sunny Mehta has been in contact with Nemec and his agent.

The Devils Nation: (back in early April) There were reports before the trade deadline that he could be looking Luke Hughes money, $9 million, on a long-term extension. His name had been in the rumor mill, as the Devils had been looking to add a top forward.

Nemec never formally asked for a trade before the deadline; he could be open to a change of scenery. He’s not eligible for an offer sheet.

James Nichols of NJ Hockey Now: Former Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald did offer Simon Nemec up for trade at this past trade deadline as he was looking to add a top-six forward.
