On the Anaheim Ducks …
- Eric Stephens of the OC Register: Anton Khudobin is third on the Ducks goalie depth chart. He has a $2.25 million cap hit, and with the lack of teams looking for a goalie, it’s not going to be easy to find a trade partner.
“Because you don’t want to have three goalies on the team,” Khudobin said. “It’s a hard situation. In that case, somebody has to go. In my mind, if they’re going to find me a place where I can go and play and be on an NHL team, it’s great.
“If not, then I just have to wait until the end of the season.”
On the Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs …
- The Fourth Period: The Maple Leafs and Stars have reportedly been talking trade again this season and it could pick up before the deadline. In the past they’ve talked about Dion Phaneuf. Phaneuf has a list of 12 teams that he’d approve a trade to. The Kings have shown interest in the past, but are likely not interested at the moment. It’s not know if the Leafs would be willing to retain a portion of Phaneuf’s salary. The Leafs had two scouts at the Kings-Stars game the other night. The Stars have scouted the Leafs this month.
On the Nashville Predators …
- The Fourth Period: The Predators continue to look to add another offensive player. They have showed interest in Jonathan Drouin. GM David Poile might be willing to move another one of their young defensemen or a top prospect for an upgrade up front. Patrick Marleau may be willing to waive his no-movement clause for a trade to Nashville. If they look for a rental player, they could call the Canucks about Radim Vrbata.
On the Philadelphia Flyers …
- Platinum Seat Ghosts: Darren Dreger said he thinks Flyers GM Ron Hextall will be relatively busy at the trade deadline, though he’s not sure to what extent. Dreger thinks Hextall would like to add another defenseman.
