Eastern Conference Injuries: Bruins, Penguins, Devils, Panthers and Blue Jackets

Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug to return.

Will this be the playoff run which guarantees a long-term deal for Torey Krug?

Krug ready to return

NBC Sports Boston: Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk is doubtful for tonight with a lower-body injury, but they’ll be getting Torey Krug back.

“He got a lower-body injury against Montreal and he played through it. He did not feel great today and he couldn’t practice. He’s doubtful for tomorrow , but we’ll have to see how he does,” said Cassidy. “On the flip side, Torey Krug practiced fully. I’d expect him to go in. If Grzelcyk recovers well enough to play then we’d have to put him in for Lauzon or Kampfer.”

Forward David Backes returned to practice yesterday but won’t play tonight.

Defenseman Charlie McAvoy didn’t practice yesterday and his status is unknown for tonight.

Both Backes and McAvoy are believed to have concussions.

Letang leaves practice early

Jason Mackey: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan on defenseman Kris Letang who left practice early: “He started practice today. He left the ice for precautionary reasons. He’s dealing with a lower-body, nagging injury that he got in the last game. We took him off for precautionary reasons.”

Bratt getting closer and traveling with team

Abbey Mastracco: New Jersey Devils defenseman Ben Lovejoy and forward Jesper Bratt will travel with the team but are still on the IR. Bratt is getting closer to returning to the lineup.
