Anthony Mantha gets clearance to return

Ansar Khan: Detroit Red Wings Anthony Mantha confirmed that he’s been given clearance to return today. He’s been out since December 2nd with a hand injury.

Update on Andrew Shaw

Stu Cowan: Montreal Canadiens coach Claude Julien on forward Andrew Shaw‘s injury.

“Shawsy had a neck injury that started giving him headaches. And because of his (concussion) history the trainers were pro-active and wanted to be cautious and pulled him out of the game (in Dallas). Made him see our doctors and right now it’s a neck injury that’s giving him headaches. The doctors are not able to confirm a concussion, but it’s being treated in a way where we got to get rid of those headaches and that’s what we’re going to do. So we’re kind of taking the concussion protocol for that because of his history.”

Frederik Andersen to IR and Garret Sparks in concussion protocol

Terry Koshan: Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen has been put on the IR retroactive to December 23rd. Goaltender Garret Sparks is being held out for concussion protocol. He practiced on Wednesday and after talking with him there after practice, there had been no indication of a possible concussion.
