Eastern Conference Injury Updates

Boston Bruins: Forward Patrice Bergeron was not able to go last night.

Ansar Khan: Detroit Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser hasn’t made any progress and he won’t be back anytime soon. He’s been out since October 22nd with a lower-body injury.

Mike Morreale: New Jersey Devils defenseman Sami Vatanen returned to the lineup after missing the past four games with an upper-body injury.

Larry Brooks: New York Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad practiced in a no-contact jersey yesterday.

TSN 1200: Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Brannstrom missed last night’s game. He got injured during practice on Monday.

Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said that forward Nick Bjugstad will be out “longer term” with an undisclosed ailment. He’s missed nine games back October with an undisclosed injury.

Forward Patric Hornqvist skated yesterday morning in a regular jersey but remains out.

“I feel good,” Hornqvist said. “It’s fun to be back on the ice and practice with the guys and see if I can keep up. Day by day from now on.”

Defenseman Kris Letang was on on the ice before practice.

“He’s making progress,” Sullivan said. “The fact that he’s been on the ice a number of times now … he’s getting closer. Obviously, he’s not close enough to join the team yet. When he makes that jump, you’ll know he’s close.”

Joe Smith: Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper didn’t have an update on forward Nikita Kucherov after the game. He did say that Kucherov missing the rest of the game wasn’t because of concussion protocol

Caley Chelios: Cooper added that Kucherov tried to return but couldn’t and that it’s not concussion related.

Mark Masters: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alex Kerfoot is expected to practice today. Coach Mike Babcock isn’t sure if he’ll be back in the lineup on Thursday.

Mark Masters: Maples forward Trevor Moore has been out with a shoulder injury. Babcock on Moore: “No one’s even mentioned his name so that doesn’t sound like any time soon”
