TSN has reported that the Montreal Canadiens have decided that they no longer need George Laraque. Laraque was informed this morning that coach Jacques Martin didn’t have any confidence in him, that they will pay his remaining salary this season, then buy out his contract in the summer. Laraque was happy with the timing of this; “”To do this in the midst of all I’m dealing with in Haiti, the timing is awful,” Laraque said angrily.”
Laraque signed a 3 year deal in 2008 for $4.5 million. The last year of the deal will be bought out. Due to some injuries, Laraque has only played in 61 games the last 2 season, recording 5 points and 89 penalty minutes.
