DJ Bean via twitter: Tyler Seguin said he wants to get a contract extension done before the 15th, and noted that they’ve had good talks. Jimmy Murphy via twitter: Seguin is confident new contract will be done soon. Murphy guesses it’s already done. Nick Kypreos via twitter: Seguins deal will probably fall between John Tavares’s $5.5 million and Taylor Hall’s $6 million.
Ansar Khan via twitter: Red Wings Mikael Samuelsson is using Tomas Holmstrom’s dressing room stall. Further indication that Holmstrom is likely to retire.
Jonas Siegel via twitter: Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke re-iterated that he has faith in James Reimer as the teams number 1 goalie heading into this season. James Mirtle via twitter: Burke said that all is quiet on the trade front and doesn’t anticipate any changes in the near future. Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said that reports of James van Reimsdyk will play center were overblown, he wants to try different things down the middle.
