Injuries: Canes, Flyers, Lightning, Flames, Jackets, Oilers and Canucks

Michael Smith: Hurricanes Jeff Skinner will travel with the team to New York and decision on his status will be made today.

Chip Alexander: The Hurricanes are not sure on Eric Staal. Andrej Sekera is close to returning. Skinner is real close.

Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn is expected to return to the lineup on Saturday against Dallas. Nick Schultz is expected to be scratched.

Steve Zipay: Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said that Derek Stepan’s (fractured fibula) recovery is on track.

Joe Smith: The Lightning will decide today if they will send Jonathan Drouin to the AHL on a conditioning assignment.

Kristen Odland: Flames Lance Bouma is out with a facial injury and not a concussion.

Rob Mixer: Blue Jackets forward Cam Atkinson is “a little nicked up” and missed practice yesterday. He’s expected to play on Friday.

David Pollak: Sharks Joe Thornton missed practice yesterday as he was at the dentist after taking a puck to the face. He will play against the Islanders.

Mark Stepneski: The Stars put Rich Peverley on the LTIR.

Chip Alexander: The Hurricanes call up Brody Sutter and put Pat Dwyer on the IR.

Jim Matheson: The Oilers put Viktor Fasth on the IR with a groin injury. Richard Bachman will be their backup.

Ben Kuzma: Canucks coach Willis Desjardins: Bo (Horvat) looked good, but it (practice) is not the same intensity as a game. It’s a step in the right direction. I like Bo at centre and we have a lot of centres. It’s a challenge. Somebody will have to go to the wing.”
