Injuries: Chara, Baily, Lecavalier, Heatley, Killorn, Varlamov and Kane
Mark Easson
Joe McDonald: Bruins Zdeno Chara will be out four to six weeks with ligament damage to his knee, which could require surgery. Nicholas Goss: Whoever the Bruins call up from the AHL won’t be much help, and it isn’t ideal for the Bruins to ask Adam McQuaid and Dennis Seidenberg to play big minutes after the injuries they had last year.
Arthur Staple: Islanders Josh Baily will be out for several weeks after breaking his hand.
Frank Seravalli: Flyers Vincent Lecavalier (left foot) will skate today on his own and could return next week.
Eric Stephens: Ducks Dany Heatley is still day-to-day with a groin injury. He took part in a full practice but would not say when he’ll get back in: “a little slower than I’d like”.
Erik Erlendsson: Lignthning’s Alex Killorn has no concussion symptoms and is feeling better, but he’s not ready to return to the lineup.
Joe Smith: Lightning coach Jon Cooper said that Radko Gudas could play tonight and the Killorn is a little further away.
Adrian Dater: Avalanche’s Semyon Varlamov said he feels good enough to start tonight against the Canucks.
Ken Wiebe: Jets coach Paul Maurice said that Anthony Peluso missed practice yesterday with a minor upper-body injury.
Ken Wiebe: Evander Kane’s knee is progressing well and he should start skating on his own sometime this week.
