Brendan Savage of MLive: Red Wings Jimmy Howard has a slight groin tear and will be out for two to four weeks according to GM Ken Holland.
Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly: Flyers Braydon Coburn will be out for four weeks with a suspected fractured left foot. Coburn missed 12 games earlier this season when he fractured the same foot. Nicklas Grossman is two weeks away from returning from his shoulder injury.
Tom Gulitti of The Record: Devils Jaromir Jagr and Tuomo Ruutu both missed their third practice in a row due to the flu. They did’t travel with the team to Califonia for tonight’s game, but could join the team on the three game trip.
Jason Mackey: Penguins Olli Maatta will have surgery today and is done for the year.
Paul Friesen: Jets Evander Kane admits that he’s not 100 percent healthy: “No, definitely not. But I can play and contribute.”
Paul Hendrick: Maple Leafs Leo Komarov was getting treatment for his shoulder, but could play tonight.
Sarah McLellan: Coyotes Brandon Gormley missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury. Martin Hanzal is possible for Thursday.
Jim Diamond: Predators Pekka Rinne left with a lower-body injury. He’ll be re-evaluated today, but with the team off today, an update may not come until Thursday.
