  • Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune: Lightning coach Jon Cooper said that both Tyler Johnson and Victor Hedman could return before the All-Star game next week.

“Johnson is for sure day-to-day, and I would say that Heddy is days-to-days, probably,” Cooper said. “And it’s one of those things that they are worse the night before and then today they are (better), but I don’t think either is long term.”

  • Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: The Flyers will know more today on Scott Laughton’s upper-body injury. He took a big hit from Matt Niskanen near his chest or shoulder. GM Ron Hextall wouldn’t say if it was a concussion and if he’ll play today.
  • Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News: Flyers Matt Read said yesterday that he has been bothered by a high-ankle sprain he suffered back on Nov. 1st. The pain is finally starting to subside and his game is starting to turn around.
  • Rich Chere: Devils Marek Zidlicky needed six stitches to his right thumb from a Dustin Brown shot. X-rays on it were negative.
  • Rich Chere: The Devils activated Eric Gelinas from the IR and put Tuomo Ruutu (flu) on the IR.
  • Tom Gulitti: It is “very doubtful” that Jaromir Jagr and Tuomo Ruutu will be ready to join the team before the All-Star break.
  • Sarah McLellan: Coyotes Brandon Gormley was put on the IR and Martin Hanzal was activated.
  • Chuck Gormley: Capitals coach Barry Trotz on Dmitri Orlov returning: ‘Yeah, I am a little concerned we might not get to that point and it will be a failed year for him.’
  • Kevin Kurz: Sharks coach Todd McLellan said that Raffi Torres still has a long ways to go, but isn’t ruling him out for the season.
  • Jeremy Rutherford: Blues Steve Ott is questionable tonight due to the flu. T.J. Oshie who blocked a shot last game is fine. Jaden Schwartz is fine after getting stitches when he was hit in the face with a puck last game. His teeth are okay.
  • Andrew Gross: Rangers Derek Stepan will travel with the team but is unlikely to play tonight.
  • Dave Molinari: Penguins Olli Maatta’s shoulder surgery went without complications yesterday. It isn’t expected to have any long-term impact on his playing career.
  • Rob Mixer: Blue Jackets Artem Anisimov (torn triceps) skated yesterday with their strength and conditioning coach.
  • Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs coach Peter Horachek didn’t have an update on David Booth and couldn’t say if he had a concussion test. Leo Komarov will be out tonight. Lance Hornby: Leafs will likely call someone up today. Speculation that Jonathan Bernier could start tonight.
