- Rich Hammond: Kings Justin Williams’ is day-to-day after taking a high-stick to the eye area on Tuesday night.
- Boston Bruins: Bruins coach Claude Julien will talk with trainers again today about David Krejci and “if he’s 100 percent, I don’t want him watching tomorrow”
- Minnesota Wild: Zach Parise won’t travel with the team on their three game road trip.
- Mike Chambers: Avs coach Patrick Roy said that defenseman Brad Stuart (hamstring) will be out a couple weeks. They won’t make any call-ups right now.
- Adam Vingan: Capitals Brooks Laich (shoulder) is more optimistic that he will return this weekend.
- New Jersey Devils: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello on their injured players: “We’re not going to have any of them come back unless they’re 100 percent, in shape and clear of everything.”
- Tom Gulitti: Devils Jon Merrill is skating but is not shooting pucks. Rich Chere: Merrill won’t travel with the team. X-rays came back negative from the slash on the arm he received.
- Bryan Burns: Lightning’s Alex Killorn is doubtful for tonight’s game.
- Joe Smith: Lightning’s Brett Connolly has done some light skating on his own, but is still a couple weeks away.
- Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly: Flyers Michael Raffl will be out about six weeks with a lower-body injury after blocking a shot with his right root.
“I won’t confirm or deny anything, but everybody knows from other guys, we’ve had foot injuries this year,” Hextall said. “It’s a pet peeve of mine, quite frankly, because there is protection players can wear. Some of them and some haven’t. I think the skates are inadequate. They need to be better. We give these guys sticks that shoot the puck 100 miles per hour and we don’t protect their feet well enough. I don’t think it’s right. … Injuries happen that way. Something needs to be fixed.”
