Ottawa Senators via twitter: Senators GM Bryan Murray: “Erik had surgery this morning to repair a 70% cut in his achilles. Recovery time is 3-4 months” … “Erik Karlsson’s season is effectively over.“

Vancouver Canucks via twitter: Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said that Ryan Kesler has been medically cleared to return.

Eric Stephen via twitter: Ducks Jonas Hiller has missed the last 2 games with a lower-body but could return this weekend. He could be on the bench tonight or on Saturday.

Tom Gulitti via twitter: Devils winger Dainius Zubrus had surgery on his left wrist and will be out 4 to 6 weeks.

Mike Chambers of the Denver Post: Avs Matt Duchene has been playing through a charley horse on his hip. Duchene has a history of this type of nagging issue and knows it comes and goes.

Dieter Kurtenbach of the Sun Sentinel: Panthers Ed Jovanovski is “at least another week away,” Dineen said. “It’s going to be a little bit.”

Bob McKenzie via twitter: Canucks Manny Malhotra has been shut down for the rest of the season. He’s not formally prepared to retire. McKenzie thinks that Malhotra could act as an unofficial assistant coach with players in Vancouver and Chicago (AHL). Ben Kuzma via twitter: Canucks put Malhotra on the IR and is done for the year.
