Injury notes on Leighton, Giroux, Sutton, Savard, Spezza, and Armstong
Mark Easson
Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer: Philadelphia Flyers goalie Michael Leighton will be out 6-8 weeks as he’ll require back surgery. Claude Giroux had x-rays after Thursday’s game, but was back on the ice Friday at practice.
Eric Stephens of the OC Register: Anaheim Ducks defenseman Andy Sutton fractured his right thumb last night, he’ll be re-evaluated today. Sutton injured his thumb throwing punches at ex-Duck Ruslan Salei during a scrum. He had a cast on after the game. Luca Sbisa will take his place.
Joe Haggerty via twitter: Haggerty hasn’t been told anything concrete on when Marc Savard could return, but he wouldn’t be surprised if Savard has held out until Christmas.
Rob Longley via twitter: Jason Spezza says he’ll miss “one or two games” with a groin injury. Game 2 would be against the Leafs tonight.
Lance Hornby and Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun: Maple Leafs winger Colby Armstrong (foot) wasn’t at practice yesterday as he was held out as a precaution after blocking a shot on Thursday.
