Injury Notes: Stamkos, Steen, Cammalleri, Alfredsson, Maple Leafs and the Islanders

Shawn McKenzie: Lightning Steven Stamkos said yesterday that it was the best he’s felt. He was to have an x-ray last night to see if his leg is 100 healed. Bruce Garrioch: Stamkos still hopes to get into a game before the Olympics. He won’t go to Sochi if there is a risk. Joe Smith: Stamkos took part in all team drills yesterday.
Jeremy Rutherford: Blues Alex Steen left last night’s game with a lower-body injury. Coach Ken Hitchcock said “He’s day-to-day, lower-body (injury). We’ll see where he is in a day or so. He’ll be back.”
Wes Gilbertson: Flames Mike Cammalleri skated on his own yesterday for the first time since suffering his concussion.
Bill Roose: Red Wings Daniel Alfredsson is expected to return from back spasms tonight.
Michael Traikos: Maple Leafs Frazer McLaren and Trevor Smith skated yesterday morning. Dave Bolland and David Clarkson didn’t skate. Hope Smoke: Dave Nonis: “Clarkson is probably at least a week away from returning. Bolland is really tough. There is a lot of work for him to still do”
Arthur Staple: Injured Islanders Evgeni Nabokov and Lubomir Visnovsky skated yesterday morning, but are not ready yet. Brett Cyrgalis: Capuano of Visnovsky: “If things progress the way they’re going, he could be ready next week – I’m hoping.”
Arthur Staple of Newsday: Islanders Travis Hamonic (concussion) is still experience symptoms and remains out indefinitely. Evgeni Nabokov won’t come off the IR until tomorrow at the earliest.
