- TSN Insider Trading:Bob McKenzie: The Coyotes are checking out the trade value for pending UFA winger Mikkel Boedker. On the open market, he could get five plus years and $5 million per year.
They’d like to re-sign him, but if they think they can’t get a deal done, they’ll consider moving him before the deadline. They will try to get a first round pick for him or good player or a really good prospect.
Pierre LeBrun: The Blackhawks don’t have to make a trade, but they could look at Mikkel Boedker or Andrew Ladd (either would have to be at the right price) or someone who is a little more cap friendly. Could use a left winger to play with Jonathan Toews.
Darren Dreger: If the Canadiens decide to shop Dale Weise, there will be plenty of interest in him. There have been little contract extensions talks with the pending UFA.
Pierre LeBrun: The Penguins are in the rental market and could be interested in Maple Leafs Roman Polak or Coyotes Mikkel Boedker.
Bob McKenzie: The Sabres could try to get a second round pick for Jamie McGinn. Teams may not be willing to give that much up.
Darren Dreger: Teams are still waiting on what will happen with Loui Eriksson. The Bruins would like to re-sign Eriksson to a three or four year deal. On the open market, Eriksson could get up to six years.
Bob McKenzie: Canucks coach Willie Desjardins could be on the hot seat. Would be shocked if they made a change in-season.
- Darren Dreger – Video: The LA Kings need more than an insurance piece on their blueline.The trade market for defensemen isn’t necessarily open just yet.
Not known if Dan Hamhuis will be available for trade.
The Flames are still interested in signing Kris Russell. If they can’t get a deal done, then they could put him on the market.
Loui Eriksson and Mikkel Boedker could be made available.
The price for the Coyotes to keep Boedker may be too high – a six-year deal at around $5.5 million per season. There will be a ton of interest in Boedker.
