- Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Since there aren’t any big name free agents that fit Brian Burke desires, a top forward and goalie, he may have to look at making a trade for one, maybe Rick Nash or Ryan Getzlaf. They could target Cory Schneider, but they won’t be the only one’s as the Lightning and Blue Jackets are looking for a #1 goalie. The Senators and Erik Karlsson’s side haven’t had formal discussions, and none are scheduled. The starting point might be $5.5 million, with the top at $7 million. The Rangers aren’t that thrilled with the way GM Scott Howson handled the Rick Nash negotiations. Sources said that the Rangers offered Brandon Dubinsky, Tim Erixon, J.T. Miller and 2 1st round picks, but Howson kept asking for defenseman Michael Del Zottoa and others. It’s unlikely that Alexander Semin will be back with the Capitals next year. Nobody was willing to trade for him at the deadline, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he’ll be playing in the KHL next season. The Islanders want to re-sign P.A. Parenteau, he’s looking for a long-term contract.
- Dmitry Chesnokov via twitter: On Wednesday Alexander Radulov will meet with KHL officials to decide his future according to KHL President Medvedev. Medvedev told SovSport that they won’t “be the iron curtain” if Radulov wants to leave.
- Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun: Devils winger Zach Parise has told some friends he wouldn’t consider signing with the Maple Leafs this summer.
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Oilers winger Linus Omark could be on the move this summer.
“If another team feels Omark can play in their top six, I don’t think there’s any question the Oilers can get something good for Omark in a trade if they want to trade him. The key is finding that team,” said the NHL team executive.
Lightning’s Marc-Andre Bergeron’s season is likely over after having surgery to repair a sciatic nerve problem. The Jets decided to trade Johnny Oduya at the deadline as they didn’t think they’d like what he’d be asking for in a new contract. He makes $4 million this year.
- Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Jimmy Howard will travel with his Red Wings teammates to LA for their game Tuesday. Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk are expected to return this week.
