From Bob McKenzie as per Darren Dreger: The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded for John-Michael Liles from the Colorado Avalanche for a 2nd round pick.
Pierre LeBrun via twitter: The 2nd round pick is in 2012. It’s the 2nd round pick that Toronto acquired in the Tomas Kaberle trade with Boston.
Liles is scheduled to make $4.55 million and carries a cap hit of $4.2 million. He’ll be a UFA after next season.
According to Capgeek, the Avs only are just over $20 million below the cap floor. They currently have 13 players under contract for next year. Amazingly they only have Paul Stastny and Cameron Gaunce under contract for 2012-13.
