Morning Hits I: Letang, Blue Jackets and Clarkson
Mark Easson
Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: The Penguins may be looking to sign Kris Letang to a longer term deal at $6 million a year and with a limited-movement clause. Letang has other ideas of his worth. Shero may be “fairly confident Letang has become a must-move player.” Letang is not the consensus top defenseman with Penguins management and coaches. Letang is under contract for next season and will be a UFA in July 2014. He wants a no-movement clause, which is another reason he could be traded.
Aaron Portzline: The Blue Jackets will send out qualifying offers early this week to some of their RFAs.
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: James thinks the Red Wings should look at David Clarkson. If they could get him around $4.5 million a year, he would be a terrific asset.
