Morning Rumors and Notes: Bruins, Coyotes, Oilers, Kings, Capitals, Sabres and Penguins
Mark Easson
Joe Haggerty: The Bruins won’t be trading Matt Bartkowski, Ryan Spooner or their 1st round pick for a defenseman. Prices are high right now.
Chris Nichols: Coyotes GM Don Maloney: “We’re not looking to sell. We’d like to add. But right now there are 25 other NHL teams in the exact same situation.”
Jonathan Willis of the Edmonton Journal: Willis notes that if the Oilers are looking to trade pending UFA Nick Schultz, they should keep him in their third pairing. When he’s moved up to the second pairing, “his game collapses.”
The Fourth Period: Kings GM Dean Lombardi is in the market for scoring and have shown interest in Matt Moulson, Thomas Vanek and Evander Kane.
The Fourth Period: The Capitals have been looking to trade Martin Erat, Dmitry Orlov and Michal Neuvirth. They would like trade for a two-way forward and a stay-at-home defenseman. They have also looked at bringing in a goalie, and have inquired about Ryan Miller. The Wild and Blues are also showing interest in Miller. Steve Ott may also be a player the Capitals are looking at.
Adam Vingan of NBC Washington: If Evgeny Kuznetsov decides to join the Capitals, he’ll carry a $900,000 salary cap hit. His current KHL sits in eight place with four games to go, and would face the top seed. Seven game Quarterfinals would run from March 8th to 18th, Semifinals: March 21st to 31st, Final: April 3rd to 15th and League Championship: April 18th to 30th.
Pittsburgh Penguins: Penguins Pascal Dupuis underwent successful knee surgery on his torn right ACL.
