- Arthur Staple: Three different people have said that Martin St. Louis did request a trade last month.
- Darren Dreger: “Teams may continue to call TBay on St Louis, but, as of now, Lightning are telling teams St Louis is locked on the New York Rangers.”
- Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times: Neither Martin St. Louis or Lightning GM Steve Yzerman squashed speculation of St. Louis wanting out of Tampa.
“The only thing I can say about that is I’ve had conversations with Steve on my future here,” St. Louis said after practice at the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon. “Out of respect for my teammates, that’s all I’m going to say about that.”
Said Yzerman: “I’m not going to comment on trade rumors in this situation or any situation.”
It’s not known what was discussed when Yzerman and St. Louis met.
“I’m not going to get into answering these questions every day,” said St. Louis, 38, who has one year left on his contract. “These are conversations I’ve had between me and Steve, and they’re going to stay that way.”
TSNs Bob McKenzie reported that St. Louis would waive his no-movement clause to go to New York. He has a home in Greenwich, Conn.
- Hope Smoke: Darren Dreger: “This dialogue between TB & the Rangers regarding St.Louis has been going on a long time”
- David Pagnotta: “I don’t know how this Martin St. Louis situation will end, but I do know the Rangers inquired a few times over the years. St. Louis didn’t sound like he changed his mind about requesting a trade when speaking to local media earlier today. I could be reading too much into that… Bottom line: If MSL still wants out, plenty of teams will want him. He’ll have final say.”
