NHL Rumors: Coaching Notes – Blackhawks, Panthers, Blues, Sabres and Stars

St. Louis Blues looking for assistants for Mike Yeo

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Jimmy Murphy: The Blackhawks were given permission to speak with Ulf Samuelsson about an assistant coaching position.

On the Florida Panthers …

Jimmy Murphy: Talk is that the Panthers head coaching position is Jim Montgomery’s if he wants it. Once source said “He’s conflicted for sure.”

Jimmy Murphy: Montgomery and his family are happy in Denver but impressed with idea that he could be a head coach in the NHL with the Panthers.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Lou Korac: Blues GM Doug Armstrong said that he’d like to have his assistant coaches named by the draft – June 23rd and 24th.

Elliotte Friedman: Craig Berube and Darryl Sydor (both Chicago of AHL) are good bets to be promoted to Blues coaching staff.

Jeremy Rutherford: Possible candidates to be named to Mike Yeo’s coaching staff: Dan Bylsma, Michel Therrien, Craig Berube, Darryl Sydor.

Jeremy Rutherford: When with the Penguins, Yeo worked with both Therrien and Bylsma. Would Therrien consider being an assistant coach?

On the Dallas Stars …

Elliotte Friedman: Rick Wilson has a long history with Stars head Ken Hitchcock, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he left the Blues to join Hitchcock in Dallas.

On the Buffalo Sabres …

Pierre LeBrun: Sabres GM Jason Botterill wants to talk with Ralph Krueger about their vacant head coaching position. Not sure if Krueger is interested or if he’s even available.
