Eric Stephens of the OC Register: Defenseman Cam Fowler was helped off the ice in the third period after a knee-on-knee hit from Flames defenseman Mark Giordano. He wasn’t able to put any weight on his right knee.
“He came through the middle with a lot of speed and I was honestly coming across to make a hit on him,” Giordano said. “I have to watch it again, but I think our legs collided, I don’t know how bad.
“I just hope he’s OK. You don’t like to see, obviously, guys get hurt. There was no intent to hurt him there. I’m just trying to come across in a 2-1 game to try to stop him from getting to our net, try to make a hit.”

Wes Gilbertson: Goaltender Chad Johnson left last night’s game early.
Wes Gilbertson: Johnson will return to Calgary for evaluation according to coach Glen Gulutzan. They are “optimistic” about his status.

Sarah McLellan: Forward Shane Doan is believed to be out with a different injury, not a set back from his groin issues. He had returned on Friday and played Sunday.
Sarah McLellan: Doan is day-to-day. He was hurting a bit yesterday morning and “just decided to keep him out” according to Tippett.
Dave Vest: Coach Dave Tippett said that forward Radim Vrbata missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury.
Sarah McLellan: Vrbata’s issue has been bothering him for a while and they didn’t want to risk it last night.
Sarah McLellan: Tippett said that they are hopeful that Doan and Vrbata are able to play in their two final games but they are not sure yet.
