Pat Hickey: Defenseman Nathan Beaulieu is out for the remainder of the season with a broken thumb. He left last night’s game late in the first period.

Brett Cyrgalis: Defenseman Travis Hamonic looks like he injured his right knee. Last year he injured his left MCL and missed the playoffs.

Brian Hedger: Coach Joel Quenneville said that Corey Crawford is showing some progress.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Rich Chere: Cory Schneider will start on Saturday. Schneider said that there was no talk about his shutting down his season.

On the Buffalo Sabres …

John Vogl: Evander Kane is finished for the season. He has a cast on his left hand, looking like broken finger(s).

On the Anaheim Ducks …

Curtis Zupke: Andrew Cogliano appears to okay after a hit on Wednesday night. There was no update on David Perron. The Ducks didn’t practice yesterday.

Curtis Pashelka: Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Matt Nieto are traveling with the team to Nashville and Minnesota. No timetable on when either could return.

Dean Brown: Mark Stone headed back to Ottawa for further evaluation.

Dave Vest: Center Martin Hanzal suffered an upper-body injury and left last night’s game.
