NHL Injuries: Coyotes, Avalanche, Oilers, Kings, Blues, and Maple Leafs

The LA Kings activate Jonathan Quick from the IR. Auston Matthews awaiting clearance from doctors.
Raanta exits last night’s game early

Arizona Coyotes: Goaltender Antti Raanta left last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

Craig Morgan: Have to wonder if Raanta was even 100 percent when he returned to the lineup.

Barrie misses last night’s game

Adrian Dater: Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie missed last night’s game and is listed as day-to-day with an unspecified injury

Sekera skates

Kurt Leavins: Edmonton Oilers defenseman Andrej Sekera was on the ice yesterday. Could be looking at a January return but after having two major surgeries he may not be back to the way he was two years ago.

Jason Gregor: Sekera has said that he’d be open to doing a conditioning stint in the AHL before returning to the NHL game action. He would need to be activated from the IR first and the Oilers would need to reduce their roster by one. When a player is on a conditioning stint he counts towards their 23-man roster.

Quick activated from the IR

LA Kings: The Los Angeles Kings have activated goaltender Jonathan Quick off the IR and reassigned goaltender Peter Budaj. Quick had missed their previous 12 games with a lower-body injury.

The Kings placed forward Trevor Lewis on the IR retroactive to November 16th.

Gunnarsson and Schwartz may not be close

Lou Korac: It’s not sounding like defenseman Carl Gunnarsson and forward Jaden Schwartz are close to returning to the lineup. Both have been skating.

Matthews awaiting clearance

Lance Hornby: Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock said that Auston Matthews will have one more meeting with their head therapist and needs clearance before tonight’s game.
