Jim Thomas: The Arizona Coyotes announced that forward Michael Grabner will be out indefinitely after taking a high stick to the face from St. Louis Blues Samuel Blais.

Ristolainen should play tonight … Sheary back practicing
Paul Hamilton: Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen was given a maintenance day yesterday and should be in the lineup tonight.
John Vogl: Sabres forward Conor Sheary was back on the ice practicing yesterday. Forward Jason Pominville and defenseman Jake McCabe and Marco Scandella weren’t.
Dater traveling with the Avs
Adrian Dater: Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie is traveling with the team but wasn’t able to go last night.
Hanzal getting close
Mark Stepneski: The Dallas Stars won’t rush Martin Hanzal back. It was expected that he would be ready around December 15th. Stars coach Jim Montgomery thinks he could be closer. Hanzal will meet with his doctor and he could be ready to return as soon as this Friday.
Kovalchuk out a month
Lisa Dillman: Los Angeles Kings Ilya Kovalchuk will be out for about four weeks after he had an ankle bursectomy procedure.
Stastny skating
SinBin.Vegas: Vegas Golden Knights forward Paul Stastny was skating again yesterday. Stastny had returned to the ice earlier last week and has been on the ice for 20-30 minutes each time.
Oshie and Orpik progressing
Chris Kuc: Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie (concussion) and defenseman Brooks Orpik (knee) are progressing but won’t be traveling with the team on their three-game road trip.
