NHL Injuries: Penguins, Bruins, Senators, Wild and Jets

Kris Letang and Patric Hornqvist of the Pittsburgh Penguins
On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Sam Werner: Forward Patric Hornqvist has a concussion and has returned to Pittsburgh. Coach Mike didn’t rule out having Hornqvist joining the team on their road trip.

Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Coach Mike Sullivan clarified yesterday that defenseman Kris Letang‘s injury is not a concussion and that it’s not related to the stroke he suffered a few years ago.

“There’s just been so much speculation around Kris’ injury,” Sullivan said. “What I will confirm is that it’s not a concussion, it’s not related to a stroke or anything of that nature. Kris has an upper-body injury, he’s rehabbing the injury at home as we speak. We’re hopeful here that he’ll have a quick turnaround and we’ll get him back in the lineup.”

Letang has been out of the lineup since February 21st. He practiced on the 24th, but hasn’t since. The Penguins won’t confirm what type of injury it is.

“I know there’s been tons of speculation around it, so we’d rather just confirm that it’s not that stuff,” he said.

On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty: Forward Tim Schaller left last night’s game with a lower-body injury after crashing into the boards.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Dean Brown: Coach Guy Boucher said that forward Kyle Turris may not play in any of their next games on their road trip.

Dean Brown: Turris has an injured finger and wanted to play through it, but the Senators want to give it time to heal.

On the Minnesota Wild …

Michael Russo: Defenseman Matt Dumba (sick and not the mumps) didn’t initially travel with the team to Tampa.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Winnipeg Jets: Defenseman Toby Enstrom left last night’s game with an upper-body injury.

Ted Wyman: Coach Paul Maurice: “Toby is at the hospital now, he’s getting checked for facial fractures, so we’ll have a better idea about that tomorrow.”
