Western Conference Injuries: Sharks, Stars, Ducks and Coyotes

Jamie Benn and Marc-Edouard Vlasic
On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: Defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic was on the ice yesterday, a week after taking a puck to the face.

“I feel pretty good, considering I got a slap shot to the face,” Vlasic said, although he later added that he’s “still in a lot of pain.”

Vlasic said that there are “a few fractures” and “some nerves that are damaged.” He motioned that the injured area was the nasal and cheekbone area. His right eye area is still bruised and he has stitches in his upper-lip.

Vlasic hasn’t ruled himself out of tonight’s game. Coach Pete DeBoer said he’s day-to-day, and added.

“We can’t get inside his head and how he’s feeling. … You see his face, he took a pretty good shot there,” DeBoer said. “He’s still sore. We’ll see how he wakes up tomorrow morning.”

Defenseman David Schlemko was also on the ice yesterday, but they are unsure if he’ll be able to play.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mark Stepneski: Winger Jamie Benn is travelling with the team, but he’s out tonight, and is not expected to play on either Monday or Tuesday.

On the Anaheim Ducks …

Eric Stephens: Coach Randy Carlyle said that Ryan Getzlef (lower-body) tried to skate yesterday before their optional morning skate.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Sarah McLellan: Coyotes winger Jordan Martinook left last night’s game early with an upper-body injury.
