NHL Injuries: Penguins, Lightning, Jets and Coyotes

Conor Sheary and Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Pittsburgh Penguins: Coach Mike Sullivan on Conor Sheary: “He has a lower-body injury. It happened in the 1st period in the offensive zone. Right now his status is day-to-day.”

Wes Crosby: Evgeni Malkin didn’t skate yesterday morning. Coach Sullivan said there is no significance of him not skating, just part of his rehab process.

Jonathan Bombulie: Forward Scott Wilson was skating with the main group at practice yesterday.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Lightning Shout: Forward Tyler Johnson skated by himself before practice yesterday.

Lightning Insider: Coach Jon Cooper didn’t have an update on Johnson. It’s a good sign that he was on the ice yesterday, but was skating “very gingerly.”

Lightning Insider: Defenseman Jason Garrison didn’t skate yesterday.

Lightning Insider: Forward Steven Stamkos didn’t take part in any power play drills, so it’s unlikely he gets back in the lineup tonight.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Sara Orlesky: Patrik Laine missed yesterday’s game with an illness.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Sarah McLellan: Forward Shane Doan was the only Coyote not practicing yesterday.

Sarah McLellan: The Coyotes are going to keep Doan off the ice for a couple days. They are hoping rest will help his lower-body injury.
