Eric Stephens: Ryan Getzlaf wasn’t in the lineup last night due to a lower-body injury. Coach Randy Carlyle said he’s improving and they don’t see him being out long-term.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mark Stepneski: The Stars activated Antoine Roussel from the IR and placed Jamie Benn on the IR retroactive to December 31st.

Mark Stepneski: Benn will be out for at least Saturday’s game as well.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Curtis Pashelka: Coach Pete DeBoer said that David Schlemko is feeling better, but is questionable for tonight. He didn’t practice with the main group yesterday.

Lou Korac: (Ty Rattie was claimed from waivers by the Hurricanes) Coach Ken Hitchcock on Rattie: “Guy’s got to have a chance to play. He’s a good player, he’s been a good soldier here … for four years now.” … “If (Rattie) wasn’t going to play here on a regular basis, then give him a chance to play somewhere else.”

Kevin Kurz: The Sharks put Matt Nieto on waivers yesterday and they expect that he will get claimed. GM Doug Wilson on Nieto: “ deserves the opportunity to play in the league, and we’re happy to work with him and his agent to make this a possibility.”
