Eichel day-to-day but skating

Amalie Benjamin: Buffalo Sabres coach Phil Housley didn’t have a new update on Jack Eichel and he remains day-to-day.

Paul Hamilton: Heard that Eichel was skating yesterday.

Stars injury updates

Sean Shapiro: Dallas Stars forward Jason Dickinson has resumed skating and could return to the after their road trip and before the All-Star break.

There was no update given for Stephen Johns, Marc Methot or Martin Hanzal.

Mark Stepneski: Forward Jamie Benn will return to the lineup today.

Russell getting closer

Edmonton Oilers: Coach Ken Hitchcock said that defenseman Kris Russell could return to the Oilers lineup before their road trip ends. He’ll be paired with Darnell Nurse when he returns.

Sissons activated

Adam Vingan: The Nashville Predators activated forward Colton Sissons from the IR.

Blackwood awaiting clearance

Chris Ryan: New Jersey Devils goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood received treatment and was given a maintenance day yesterday. Will know today if he gets clearance to backup Keith Kinkaid. (Blackwood left in the first period Friday)

Sparks skates

Kristen Shilton: Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Garret Sparks was on the ice before the Leafs morning skate yesterday. The Leafs said on Friday that he has a concussion.

Pettersson has a slight MCL sprain

Ken Campbell: Vancouver Canucks coach Travis Green said that Elias Pettersson had an MRI that showed a slight sprain to this right MCL. When the team returns to Vancouver he will be re-evaluated. Green added: “It’s probably as good of news as we could have expected.”

Ehlers out until early February

Mitchell Clinton: Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice said that Nikolaj Ehlers will be out until early February with an upper-body injury.
