Aston-Reese may be out longer

Matt Vensel: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said that Zach Aston-Reese‘s injury is “longer term.” They do expect him to return this season. Defensemen Kris Letang and Olli Maatta are skating back in Pittsburgh.

No timetable for Karlsson

Curtis Pashelka: There is still no timetable on when San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson could start skating. Coach Pete DeBoer: “on the horizon, but not in the next couple of days.”

Perron skating

Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: St. Louis Blues forward David Perron is traveling with the team and is skating.

Stralman and Girardi out

Caley Chelios: Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper said that defenseman Dan Girardi isn’t traveling with the team. Defenseman Anton Stralman missed last night’s game. Both Stralman and Girardi are dealing with lower-body injuries and are day-to-day.

Joe Smith: They’ll know more about Girardi when they return to Tampa. He’s missed their past few games but they don’t think it will be a long-term injury.
