  • Pierre LeBrun: Source saying that the New York Rangers have bought out center Brad Richards.

The 34-year old Richards was to carry a $6,666,667 salary cap hit until 2019-20. The Rangers may have been worried about the cap recapture penalty they would encounter if he retired early. His deal was front loaded and contained only a $1 million salary for the last three years of the deal.

  • CapGeek: Richards will get $12,666,667 million from his salary and $8 million in signing bonuses, spread out over 12 years.
  • CapGeek: Richards has a no-movement clause and opted against the waiver process. His buyout is immediate.

Where do you think Richards will end up and what type of deal do you think he’ll get?
