On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times: Dan Girardi skated with the team during their optional skate yesterday. He’s been out with a lower-body injury and is hopeful to return later this week, though they won’t rush it.

“I’ll be back as soon as possible, but I’ve got to make sure everything feels right,” Girardi said. “Especially this time of year, it’s a tough time of year, want to make sure everything is feeling good going into the playoffs. Don’t want anything nagging going into playoff time.”

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Kristen Shilton: Defenseman Roman Polak was activated off the IR, and defenseman Andreas Borgman was reassigned to the AHL.

Michael Hoad of Sportsnet: Goaltender Frederik Andersen left in the second period last night after being hit in the head by Corey Perry‘s skate. An update is expected today.

Dave McCarthy: Babcock: “I mean, I think fine, I was just talking to him. He seems good, we’ll see what goes on tomorrow.”

Michael Augello: Frederik Andersen had two “possible” concussions last year, so if he suffered a concussion last night, they would be extra careful with him.
