Sarah McLellan of the Star Tribune: Defenseman Jared Spurgeon will be out for two weeks with a groin strain. He’s already missed their past two games.

“It is a big loss,” fellow blue liner Matt Dumba said. “You can’t take anything away from that. It’s Jared Spurgeon. I think he’s one of the most underrated guys in the NHL. I see it on a day-to-day basis how good he is. All of us do.”

Cap Friendly: The Lightning put forward Chris DiDomenico on waivers. The Lightning had claimed DiDomenico on Nov. 24th, so if the Senators reclaim him, and are the only team, they can send him directly to the AHL if they want.
