Elliotte Friedman: Nick Kypreos said that the NHL Player Safety Department would look at Andrew Cogliano‘s interference penalty. Cogliano has played in 830 consecutive games, 134 games behind Doug Jarvis‘s record.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Detroit Red Wings: Forward Darren Helm left last night’s game early with a lower-body injury.

Ted Kulfan: The Red Wings recalled forward Dominic Turgeon.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Renaud Lavoie: Forward Phillip Danault remained in the hospital overnight, and according to coach Claude Julien, the “reports are good.”

Eric Engels: Danault’s dad said on Facebook that Phillip’s scan came back normal and that he remained in the hospital overnight for observation.

 

On the New York Islanders …

Dan Rosen: Coach Doug Weight said that they are hopeful that Josh Bailey will be able to return to the lineup next week. They play the Devils on Tuesday and Bruins on Thursday.

New York Islanders: Weight on injured forward Casey Cizikas: “It’s upper body, and it’s not great. We’ll find out after we get a look at it, but he won’t be playing the next little while at least. He won’t be on the trip.”

Arthur Staple: Weight said that Cizikas’s injury “doesn’t look good,” and that he’ll miss at least the next few games. Weight added that among the injured players, Bailey is the closest to being ready to return. They are hopeful that he’ll be on the ice soon.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Dave Isaac: Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere missed last night’s game with an illness.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Greg Wyshynski: The Lightning put J.T. Brown on waivers. Brown hasn’t recorded a point since November 12th and hasn’t played over 10 minutes in a game since December 2nd. He’s a pending UFA with a $1.25 million cap hit this season.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Brian Munz: Coach Paul Maurice said that goaltender Steve Mason hasn’t been feeling right and has been sent back to Winnipeg to get checked out by team doctors.

Ken Wiebe: Forward Shawn Matthias missed last night’s game with an upper-body injury and is day-to-day according to coach Maurice.
