Western Conference News: Ducks, Kings, Predators, Sharks and Canucks

Both John Gibson and Ondrej Kase left last night's Anaheim Ducks game early
On the Anaheim Ducks …

Greg Beacham: There was no update on goaltender John Gibson‘s status after the game. He took a stick to the head and went through NHL concussion protocol.

Lisa Dillman: Forward Ondrej Kase left last night’s game early with an upper-body injury.

On the Los Angeles Kings …

Jon Rosen: Forward Anze Kopitar confirmed that a concussion spotter pulled him from the game after his collision with Brandon Montour. He is fine.

Jon Rosen: Forward Marian Gaborik skated with the team yesterday but didn’t take part in line rushes.

Curtis Zupke: Coach John Stevens said they still don’t have a timetable for when Gaborik can fully practice and take contact.

On the Nashville Predators …

Adam Vingan: Forward Nick Bonino is still on the Predators IR. He skated with the healthy scratches.

Adam Vingan: Forward Frederick Gaudreau is on a way-two contract, so he seems like the player that would be sent down when Bonino is ready to return. He’s been playing like he should stick around though.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News: Defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic has been out since November 1st with a head injury. He appears ready to return and doesn’t have positive things to say about the NHL baseline tests.

“It’s just a written test,” Vlasic said of the written exam that took him about 45 minutes to complete. “In order for me to fail that, I’d have to be in a coma. … The baseline cannot show how I’m feeling.”

“I could easily do it if I’m concussed,” Vlasic later added.

Players take the baseline test during training camp, and are given similar tests when they are trying to return from a concussion. They should have similar scores if they are ‘okay’ to return.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Vancouver Canucks: The Canucks recalled forward Reid Boucher.
