Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: After sending Thomas Chabot and Ben Harpur to the AHL yesterday, the Senators have six ‘healthy’ defensemen and Erik Karlsson. Guy Boucher hasn’t ruled Karlsson out for their season opener.
“There’s no update because I wasn’t around to see how he was doing with the therapists and all that,” Boucher said Saturday night. “But I know he looked great (Friday) and that’s a positive.
“Basically, you’re asking me if he’s ready to go. Right now, he’s not ready to go, but it’s going faster than we thought, so that’s positive. Like I said, November first (the expected date of return), and anything below that is a bonus. We might get a bonus.”
Derick Brassard has been cleared for contact, and he could be ready for their season opener.
