Craig Morgan: The Coyotes recalled forward Dylan Strome.

Mark Lazerus: The Blackhawks recalled forward Andreas Martinsen.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News: Forwards Jason Spezza (back) and Brett Ritchie (lower-body) missed last night’s game. The Stars recalled forward Curtis McKenzie on an emergency basis.

“Jason has a back injury, so we’ll see where that’s at let you know that in a few days,” Hitchcock said.

Hitchcock said they aren’t sure on Ritchie’s status but should know more in the next couple of days.

Defenseman Marc Methot was on the ice yesterday but his hand injury prevents him from gripping his stick and being able to compete in battles.

“He’s not close,” Hitchcock said. “He’s trying but he’s unable to do even the minimum necessities to be able to play.”

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Jason Gregor: The Oilers have signed 2017 fourth-round pick Ostap Safin to a PTO with their AHL team in Bakersfield.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz: Forward Joe Thornton has been skating for a bit according to coach Pete DeBoer. He adds that it’s “real preliminary.”

On the St. Louis Blues …

Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Forward Vladimir Tarasenko missed practice yesterday and is doubtful for tonight according to coach Mike Yeo.

Tarasenko was elbowed in the head and they are calling it an upper-body injury and have not said it’s a concussion.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Brendan Batchelor: Defenseman Ben Hutton will be out for the rest of their road trip according to coach Travis Green. He had an infection on his foot that needed to be drained and there is now an open wound.

On the Vegas Golden Knights …

Jesse Granger: Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury suffered an injury before last night’s game and wasn’t able to go.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Winnipeg Jets PR: Forward Patrik Laine left last night’s game with a lower-body injury.
