Chip Alexander: Hurricanes GM Ron Francis said that Nicholas Roy will miss the start of training camp with a concussion.

Ansar Khan: Defenseman Niklas Kronwall didn’t skate yesterday. GM Ken Holland said that Kronwall feels great, but coach Jeff Blashill wants to limit his time on the ice during camp.

Bryan Burns: Defenseman Anton Stralman didn’t skate yesterday and is considered day-to-day.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Patric Hornqvist had offseason hand surgery this offseason and isn’t ready for the start of training camp.

“I would expect him to rejoin camp for full workouts at some point,” general manager Jim Rutherford said on Friday morning at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. “It will probably be closer to the end of camp, and be ready for the start of the season.”
