Anaheim Ducks: Forward Ryan Getzlaf is on the IR and will be re-evaluated today. He suffered the facial injury on Sunday.

Craig Morgan: Coach Rick Tocchet on defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson‘s injury:  “He got banged up pretty good. I don’t know how long he’ll be out. It’s a big loss for us.”

On the Carolina Hurricanes …

Chip Alexander: Coach Bill Peters said that defenseman Brett Pesce was hit in shoulder/neck area and will be fine.

Michael Smith: The Hurricanes will likely recall a forward before their two-game road trip as Lee Stempniak and his upper-body injury aren’t ready yet.

Chip Alexander: Peters said Stempniak is a “long way away” but is heading in the right direction.

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

Steve Gorten: Coach John Tortorella said that defenseman Zach Werenski didn’t practice yesterday but it was just for maintenance. There was no update on Cam Atkinson, he’s day-to-day.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mark Stepneski: Coach Ken Hitchcock said that if Stephen Johns gets clearance after practice, he’ll be in the lineup on Thursday.

On the Minnesota Wild …

Minnesota Wild: The Wild activate forward Nino Niederreiter from the IR.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Dave Isaac: Forward Nolan Patrick and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere are not traveling with the team. It is possible that they are able to go on Saturday.

Dave Isaac: The Flyers put Patrick and defenseman Andrew MacDonald on the IR. Defenseman Sam Morin will be out for a week and was never officially recalled by the Flyers.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Pens Inside Scoop: Defenseman Justin Schultz and Matt Hunwick, both out with concussions. They are skating and could join the team at some point on their road trip.

On the San Jose Sharks …

Curtis Pashelka: Defenseman Paul Martin said his ankle surgery was to repair ligaments “that have been torn for a couple years that had to be put back together.” The injury had been on and off for awhile and it was about to time to get it fixed.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Jeff Paterson: Forward Brock Boeser said he foot felt good yesterday and that he is hopeful to play tonight.
