The St. Louis Blues have signed defenseman Colton Parayko to an eight-year contract extension worth $52 million, a $6.5 million salary cap hit.
Jeremy Rutherford: Blues GM Doug Armstrong on Parayko’s extension: “Colton is certainly a core player for us and you have to give to get. He was willing to give a little bit on the AAV and we were willing to give a little bit on the number of years to make something that worked for both sides.”
Jeremy Rutherford: Armstrong on Parayko’s back issues and the risk: “We talked to our (medical staff) and we were comfortable to take this risk. I know how Colton takes care of himself. He’ll do whatever he can do to give himself the best opportunity and that’s really all you can ask for, and hope for good luck.”

Colton Parayko, extended 8x$6.5M by STL, is a second-pair defensive defenceman whose elite early-career results have slipped pretty significantly in the past two seasons. #StlBlues pic.twitter.com/UdPzmMSG6Q

The St. Louis Blues have re-signed Colton Parayko to eight-year extension with $6.5M per year. Uh, Parayko has been TOP4 defenseman in the last ~2 seasons. Just let’s hope he’ll rebound again and proving that he’s a top pair defenseman again. pic.twitter.com/8NIviRrjdb
